Industry Day

Thanks to those who attended our first Industry Day to review information about the proposed design and building plans for the replacement passenger terminal project, also known as “Elevate BUR”. For more information, please visit www.elevatebur.com.

To Our Friends and Industry Professionals:

It is my pleasure to invite you to Hollywood Burbank Airport’s (BUR) Industry Day, hosted by the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, on Wednesday, October 30. This event helps pave the way for procurement of a Design-Builder for what is, in my estimation, the most important safety-related infrastructure upgrade at any commercial airport in the nation.

As many of you know, BUR has been pursuing a replacement of the existing passenger terminal and associated support facilities to meet current airport design and seismic standards. The program consists of much more than just replacement of the current 14-gate terminal; the construction of the aircraft apron and taxiway connectors, parking structures, ground support equipment and air cargo facilities, airport administrative space, an aircraft rescue firefighting building, utilities, and roadways are all part of the program we’ve named Elevate BUR.

Elevate BUR will bring the airport into compliance with current airport design standards. It is also an opportunity, 90 years in the making, to create a modern, sustainable, convenient facility that will continue to serve the community for decades to come.

The Authority has decided to pursue a Progressive Design-Build model for delivery of the project. We feel the time is right for firms to begin their preparation in anticipation of a Request for Qualifications (”RFQ”) for a Progressive Design-Builder. During Industry Day, we will provide up-to-date information on the program, allowing for discussion with Airport Staff and consultants who have been collaborating on the program so far, and provide a networking opportunity for firms interested in collaborating during the selection process.

We appreciate your interest and look forward to your participation. The event is free to attend, but is recommended for Design-Build team principals at this time. Another Industry Day event, for trades and material suppliers, shall be held at a later date. Please join us:
